Given a positive ride when winning over C&D from a 1 lb higher mark last August and shaped as though in good form this season, likely to have been just outside the frame with a clear run at Ascot (5f) last time. Handicapper has given him a chance and he could go well down in grade.

Won this race off a 2 lb lower mark last year and has returned as good as ever this season, not beaten far when unsuited by the step up to 6f last time at Doncaster. Will be suited by the drop back to 5f and interesting to see him refitted with cheekpieces (wore once as a 3-y-o). One to consider.

Landed a 4-timer last year but has found life tougher from higher marks since. Is gradually coming back down the weights and took a step in the right direction when 5/2, good third of 6 in handicap at Chepstow (5.1f, good) 23 days ago. May need further leniency from the handicapper.

In good heart on all-weather, won 5f Chelmsford handicap in March but below form on two turf starts prior to bouncing straight back to form when runner-up in a valuable event for the grade back at Chelmsford 12 days ago. Every chance on that form but needs to prove his effectiveness back on turf.

Scored 3 times in 2024 at 5f/6f but his tendency to be slowly away has derailed his season, only beating 1 horse home in his last three starts. Remains a risky betting proposition until he can sort out his stalls issues.

Fair ex-Irish winner who justified on stable debut for Ed Bethell at Southwell (7f) in March. Found the race coming too soon when beaten at odds on over same C&D 3 days later. 5f back on turf represents a very different test on first run for new yard (wears first time hood/tongue tie).

Made all to notch a sixth career success at Wolverhampton in November and forgiven subsequent run where blindfold removed late. Needed the outing on first start for 6 months at Windsor last month. Handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds but he may need further respite.

Ended long losing on return to turf in April when making all to land an 11-runner handicap at Windsor (5.1f). Unable to get to the front but continued in good heart when 1¾ lengths third of 14 to So Smart in a handicap at Lingfield (5f, good to firm) 34 days ago. More needed back up in grade.

Successful twice over 5f last summer and built on reappearance run when fourth at Windsor (5.1f) under this jockey last month. Likely found the race coming too soon when well held at Goodwood 4 days on but has been given a short break and has slipped to a good mark with Hollie Doyle back aboard.

Lightly-raced for a sprinter and has proved likeably consistent, recording a second career success when winning 9-runner handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm, 5/2) 18 days ago, won cosily. Should give another good up in grade.

Typically a front runner and seen to good effect under those tactics when winning a valuable handicap for the grade at Lingfield in May. Bounced back to form when fourth of 7 in a handicap (9/4) at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm) 14 days ago and can be competitive again.

Forecasts

All Ways Glamorous (4/1), Bang On The Bell (9/2), Diamond Dreamer (6/1), The Organiser (6/1), Jacquelina (7/1), Jenever (8/1), So Smart (8/1), Lipsink (16/1), Good Earth (16/1), Faustus (20/1), Fletcher's Flight (20/1)

Verdict

Very competitive and plenty who like to go forward. If he can avoid becoming embroiled in an early battle for the lead, FAUSTUS may be able to capitalise on his falling handicap mark with Hollie Doyle back aboard. Last year's winner Jenever arrives in good form and could be the beneficiary if they go too quick, while fellow C&D winner Good Earth merits consideration dropping down in grade.
